The company, founded in 1904, is located in Roncà d'alpone Valley, in the Veneto region of northern Italy. The estate, about 55 Ha of vineyards, expands over three appellations: Lessini Durello, Soave and Colli Berici.  It is considered the birthplace (over 40 years ago) of the Lessini Durello spumante produced with the traditional method. Marcato also produces the La Giareta brand of wines of Vicenza, and reserve the brand Marcato for the best selections of its production.

2010 Barattaro Pinot Nero Veneto IGT

Pinot Noir

This wine is made from the Pinot Noir grapes of the Barattaro vineyard, planted in the 1985 and situated in the Lessini Hills at 80 meters above sealevel, a volcanic soil area.  Fermentation took place in stainless steel at 20-25°C; then aged in new French barriques for 9 months and in oak barrels for another 9 months prior to bottling.

Deep ruby colour with garnet highlights. Complex aroma of red fruits and black cherries with a light smokey note. Rich structure with a soft dry tannic balance. Pairs well with grilled fish, pasta with meat sauce or pan-fried duck.  Only 6000 bottles produced.

2010 Colli Berici DOC Pian Alto Cabernet

50% Cabernet Franc & 50% Cabernet Sauvignon

This age-worthy wine is made from Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes from Marcato's Pianalto vineyard, situated in the Berici Hills, 220 meters above the sea level, on mainly red clayey soils. After harvest, the grapes are left to dry for 45 days followed by fermentation in stainless steel tanks for about 12 days.  Aged in French oak barriques for 24 months and in oak 40 hl barrels for 12 months and finally, one year in bottle prior to release.

Deep red colour with garnet highlights. Aromas of blackcurrant and cassis fruits with leafy notes. It has soft tannins complemented by a note of vanilla and has excellent length. A wonderful companion to red meats, grilled meat and seasoned cheeses. Serve at 18ºC.

2011 Colli Bereci DOC La Gareta Cabernet Franc

Cabernet Franc

Produced with  Cabernet Franc grapes, grown in the Giareta estate, in the heart of the Berici Hills, south-west of Vicenza, at 250-300 meters above the sea level. This area is characterized by red clayey soil, rich of ferric limestone. Deep red colour. Flavour of red-berry fruits with a leafy hint. Medium concentrated palate and soft tannins with a

lingering finish.  This medium bodied red ia an ideal companion to grilled meat, cold cuts and cheeses.

Lessini Durello DOC 36 Mesi Brut

Durella

A non-vintaged Metodo Classico brut made with a blend of 85% Durella, 10% Chardonnay and, 5% Pinot Noir grapes grown in the Alpone Valley near Verona. Vinified by a soft pressing with fermentation at cool temperature of 14-16°C, then blended for the second fermentation. Aged on fine yeasts lees for at least 36 months in the underground caves of the winery.

Bright yellow colour, fine perlage. Complex flavour of white wild flowers and white fleshed fruits with hints of toasted bread. Rich in texture, it has a good acid balance with a great deal of minerality and long finish. Perfect as an aperitif or with fish and shellfish, best with fresh oysters. Sewrve at 6-8ºC.
