Fattoria di Luiano
Originally an ancient fort of prominence in the renaissance, it is a dominant winery of 40 hectares found at an elevation of 300 metres. Fattoria di Luiano is located about 10 kilometres from Florence in the northern part of the traditional Chianti Classico region. The Palombo family has the passion that ensures only the finest grapes are use to make the most elegant and approachable of wines.
2005 Chianti Classico DOCG Riserva Oro
85% Sangiovese, 10% Canaiolo & 5% Trebbiano
An exceptional wine from an exceptional year, this Riserva wine was produced from the finest Sangiovese, Canaiolo, and Trebbiano/Malvasia grapes hand-picked on the Chianti Classico Luiano Estate. Only 2,500 cases were made.
Harvested late September/early October, the grapes underwent a traditional red wine fermentation in stainless steel tanks with an intentional warming to encourage a secondary malolactic fermentation. The wine was then aged three years in oak casks in an aging room that goes back to the 12th century.
"Possessing a ruby to deep cherry red colour with a persistent bouquet, this full bodied wine is smooth, round, dry, and mouth-filling. Very good length."
