The Friuli Grave region distinguishes itself for the unmistakable landscape characterized by the stony shore of the rivers and mountainous reliefs that flow down to the Adriatic Sea. It is a large plain characterized by alluvial clays expanding from the border of the Veneto region to the oriental hills of Friuli, and has as a superior limit; an amphitheatre of morainic hills.
The Villa Chiopris (one of the Az.Ag. Livon estates) is located in the oriental extremity of this area, between the towns of Chiopris and Viscone, near the C.o.f.
2014 Friuli Graves DOC Pinot Grigio
Harvested by hand with collection in boxes, maceration takes place in a horizontal press for eight hours followed by a cleasing of the must through decantation. The fermentation takes place in steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 15°C. Once the fermentation is completed, the wine is left to ripen in the same tanks at controlled temperature for about five months. At this point, definitive assembling and bottling are carried out and a further period of about two months of bottle refinement follows.
This wine has a straw yellow colour. Its bouquet is floral with hints of lime; on the palate it is fresh, medium-bodied with a long finish. It can be aged for three to four years. Best served chilled (but not too cold). Screw-cap closure to maintain freshness.
