A remarkable 13th Century Château, completely rebuilt in the 1990's, is located 5 km from Paulliac and approximately 50 km north of Bordeaux. Only 32 of the 100 Ha belonging to the Château Fontesteau estate, are planted with the typical grapes of the region.  Château Fontesteau believes in protecting the principals of minimally invasive vineyard management by severely restricting the employment of synthetic fertilizers, herbicides and insecticides and, have allowed the natural defences of the vines themselves to play the key role.

"Deep ruby robe with purple tints.  On the nose, this wine reveals a palette of intense aromas, going from cherry to empyreumatic, toasty notes, with a touch of black pepper. The palate is plump and generous yet remains fresh, bringing good tension and persistence. On the finish the tannins are present but well-integrated, suggesting an excellent ageing potential for this Fontesteau 2012." - Marco BALSIMELLI (oenologist at Boissenot laboratory)
