Perinet Winery

The Priorat, one of only two Spanish wine regions with a DOQ quality designation (the other is Rioja), lies less than 20 miles from the Mediterranean Sea, which serves as a major stabilizing influence on the grapes grown in its warm, arid climate.
Priorat’s dry, rocky soil makes for one of the most challenging landscapes anywhere in the world, but it is that distinctive characteristic that creates such an extraordinary terroir. Located 90 minutes southwest of Barcelona, Perinet is the essence of the Priorat, a combination of the strong winegrowing history of the region, slate-laden soils and deep, concentrated wines with structure and balance. The authentic approach to winemaking allows Perinet to produce wines always true to the climate and the slate soil of the Priorat with an ample stylistic palette to achieve remarkable quality and consistency.

49% Carinyena, 38% Garnatxa & 13% Syrah
Of the 49% Cariñena, 38% Garnacha and 13% Syrah grapes that went into this magnificent blend, 87% came from more than 80 year old vineyards and 13% from a vineyard seven years of age.
The 2004 Perinet+ is a wine with great personality. It has a complex and elegant nose, with concentrated notes of mature red fruits, surrounded with mineral shades, spices and wood. In the mouth, it is smooth, elegant, silky and corpulent with sweet, amiable tannins and a granulated texture. It finishes rich and with very persistent aromas.
Because of its good cellaring potential, it is recommended it be decanted to futher enjoy its complexity. This wine will continue to reveal all its virtues over the next 15+ years.
