Quinta de Chocapalha
The vineyards of Quinta de Chocapalha are situated in the sunny hillsides of the Vinho Regional Lisboa (was known until recently as Estremadura), northeast of Lisbon. They have been referred to as having excellent vineyards and wines since the 16th century.
Great improvements in cultivation techniques in the 45 hectares of vineyards have taken place since the current owners, Alice and Paulo Tavares da Silva, acquired the property in the the 1980's. With the 2000 vintage it was decided that the vineyards had reached sufficient maturation and a wine of exceptional quality could be produced. Under the oenological direction of their well-known daughter Sandra Tavares da Silva, the wines show that they are amongst the finest in Portugal and continually garner rave reviews and are in high demand.

2015 Quinta de Chocapalha Tinto Vinha da Lisboa
45% Touriga Nacional, 20% Tinta Roriz, 15% Touriga Franca, 10% Alicante Bouschet & 10% Castelão
An estate wine expertly crafted by Sandra da Silva Tavares (also the winemaker at Quinta do Vale Dona Maria). All grapes were hand-selected, de-stemmed then foot-trodden separately in stone largares and went through a low temperature pre-fermentation maceration to retain the ripe fruit flavours. Aged in French oak, mostly 2nd and 3rd passage for 16 plus months.
Intense red colour and having the taste of very mature red fruit and good aging; the palate is intense and balanced with a long aftertaste. Rich perfume with notes of very ripe black fruit and floral notes.
