Quinta de Chocapalha

The vineyards of Quinta de Chocapalha are situated in the sunny hillsides of the Vinho Regional Lisboa (was known until recently as Estremadura), northeast of Lisbon. They have been referred to as having excellent vineyards and wines since the 16th century.

Great improvements in cultivation techniques in the 45 hectares of vineyards have taken place since the current owners, Alice and Paulo Tavares da Silva, acquired the property in the the 1980's. With the 2000 vintage it was decided that the vineyards had reached sufficient maturation and a wine of exceptional quality could be produced. Under the oenological direction of their well-known daughter Sandra Tavares da Silva, the wines show that they are amongst the finest in Portugal and continually garner rave reviews and are in high demand.

2020 Mar de Lisboa Tinto

40% Tinta Roriz, 29% Touriga Nacional, 20% Touriga Franca & 11% Syrah

Deep violet in colour. Good concentration on the nose with rich perfume notes of mature black fruit. Very fine on the palate with soft tannins combined with good acidity and long aftertaste. It is a wine to enjoy with or without food.

2020 Quinta de Chocapalha Tinto

42% Touriga Nacional, 21% Castelão, 21% Tinta Roriz, 8% Alicante Bouschet & 8% Touriga Franca

 Fermentation took place in lagares with successive pressings by robot and in stainless steel vats during 10 days, not exceeding 27ºC. The aging and malolactic fermentation occurred during 18 months in used French oak barriques.

Deep colour of violet tonality, good concentration in the nose. Rich perfume of mature black fruit, spices and floral notes. Very fine and elegant on the palate with soft tannins combined with good acidity and a long aftertaste.

Alicante Bouschet

Very deep and opaque colour, with great density of black fruit and chocolate in the nose, with a rich but very elegant profile. On the palate this wine shows big volume, with a silky texture, complemented by high quality tannins which confer an excellent body and an amazing aging capacity.
