Langa, Pagos Familia
In the whole of the Calatayud area PAGOS FAMILIA LANGA / BODEGAS LANGA is the sole family cellar of Wine & Cavas. Its privileged location, protected by the Vicor Mountains, makes it the most outstanding and technologically advanced of all cellars under the Calatayud C.R.D.O.
The business has a complete family structure; their way of perceiving wine has made them have an innovative mentality to select grape varieties which contribute to the quality and distinction of the Langa Wines. They have proved that in Calatayud the Cabernets, Syrahs, Merlots or Chardonnays blend with the traditional grape varieties of Spain; the results are excellent and unique wines second to none in the whole Calatayud D.O. They give priority to quality and not to quantity. Every morning of the year the Langa family wakes up to do the only thing they know... produce good wine!
2010 Langa Garnacha Centenaria DO Calatayud
This wine is a deep cherry red colour with violet touches. Intense and complex aromas, with generous ripe red fruits, blackberries, red-currants and violets. There are also balsamic notes, with soft smoky and chocolate traces coming from a brief stay on the lees. In the mouth it is full-bodied and meaty, with prominent ripe tannins of great quality. The wine is in perfect balance, with slight acidity that gives the necessary freshness so significant for a wine with 13% alcohol. Its finish and aftertaste are extremely long and pleasant. Best enjoyed at 16-18 ºC, it will go especially well with red meats, poultry, stews and cheeses. Due to natural winemaking processes and evolution, it is possible to find some sediment. Drink now to 2017.
2014 Langa Garnacha Classic DO Catalayud
100% Garnacha from 70 - 100 year old vines grown on slate and stoney soils at an altitude of 800 - 1000m. Alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel and malolactic fermention in oak barrels. The wine was aged 12 months in American, European and French oak followed by more than 6 months in bottle.
Cherry red, very deep with light cardinal tints in colour. With a mineral base of graphite and slate this wine is jammy with cherry and blackberry flavours and is spicy showing cinnamon, vanilla, chocolate and liquorice. An honest wine with a good attack and aftertaste. It is long, structured and unctuous and has big body. Due to its complexity, it is an excellent accompaniment to red meats, cold cured Iberian meats and cured cheeses. Best served at a temperature of 17-18ºC.
